Attention-Maintained Behavior
One of the four main functions of behavior is attention. But what is attention?
Attention-maintained behaviors are any behaviors that a learner may engage in to get the awareness (or attention) of another individual.
Examples of attention-maintained behaviors include a baby crying in order to receive snuggles from their mother, a child throwing a book at their teacher when their teacher is helping another child, or companies purchasing billboard space in order to grab the attention of potential customers into their store.
